    The Race to Reengineer Cybersecurity

    October 06, 2026 —
It took six days for Colonial Pipeline Co.'s 5,500-plus miles of connected refined petroleum supply infrastructure from Houston to New York City, to come back on line after a May 7, 2021 ransomware cyberattack forced the company to shut down operations and pay $4.4 million for restoration. Citadel’s Miami HQ Construction on Hold After Accident, Report Says

    October 12, 2026 —
Construction work on Citadel’s new headquarters in Miami has been paused following an accident on the site last week, the Wall Street Journal reported. The collapse of a rig on Monday prompted county authorities to issue a stop-work order pending an investigation, according to the newspaper, which cited a local building official. It’s unclear how long the stoppage will last or what caused the accident, the WSJ wrote on Sunday, adding that such probes can take up to six months. Read the full story...

In the Eye of the Beholder: Court of Appeal Finds Duty of Care Owed by Owner and Contractors for Death of Minors Caused by Independent Truck Driver

    May 05, 2026 —
I was a T.A. for my high school history teacher, a really smart and nice guy, Mr. Reynolds. In the room at the back of the classroom which served as his office he had the picture above. It’s called “My Wife and My Mother-in-Law” and is taken from a German postcard from 1888. Depending on how you look it, you might see fashionable young lady, or an old lady. Cases can sometimes be like that: You see what you want to see. The next case is also like that. In Lorenzo v. Calex Engineering, Inc., 110 Cal.App.5th 49 (2025), the 2nd District Court of Appeals reversed a motion for summary judgment granted in favor of an owner and its contractors in a case involving the death of two minors struck by a dump truck enroute to a non-permitted off-site staging area. Construction Robotics Works Where Variation Ends

    August 11, 2026 —
BuiltWorlds published its 2026 Robotics Top 50 this summer, and the list is genuinely wide. Fifty solutions across nine categories, from 3D printing and prefabricated component manufacturing to earthmoving, demolition, material transport, layout, installation, inspection, and drilling. The honorees come from sixteen countries. It looks like robotics has finally spread across the whole project lifecycle. However, having vendors in nine categories does not mean that contractors are robotizing their work en masse. Zacua Ventures, in its 2026 construction robotics report, estimates that on-site robotics accounted for less than 0.03% of global construction spending in 2025. Zacua says: “That is not a failed market. It is a market at the beginning of an adoption S-curve”, while warning that its estimates rest on private vendor data and may be high if vendors overstate how widely their machines are deployed.
